Director-Residential Systems
Reporting the VP/GM of the Residential business unit, this position provides vision, direction, customer focus and a sense of urgency to their staff through leadership, management, and teamwork. This individual is responsible for and takes a leadership role in setting the strategic direction of the Residential Systems program including product development, engineering, training, business development, product management and marketing with a dotted line responsibility for sales. Major Functions1. Development of business plan and financials for the Residential Systems program2. Manages P&L for the Residential Systems program3. Develops detailed implementation plans & drives execution of agreed to plans within defined budget4. Assesses competitive environment and ensures market viability of product line5. Identifies areas for channel expansion, new product or solution development, or acquisitions6. Defines channel expansion options & outlines plans for addressing the needs of the options available7. Coordinates with business unit / functional management to align opportunities with the appropriate function or business unit8. Recommends business relationships & executes partnerships based on the overall business unit strategy9. Provides guidance to engineering personnel who are responsible for internal and external development 10. Monitors, evaluates, and provides recommendations to management on the performance and effectiveness of Residential Systems initiatives11. Defines and executes training needs of the group and outlines resources required for implementation12. Actively participates in industry organizations that could directly benefit Leviton13. Develops budget and proactively manages it14. Works with sales to ensure integration with the Residential Systems business plans15. Works with internal and external organizations to ensure timely manufacture and delivery of products that meet business unit plans16. Work with other pieces of the Leviton organization to identify synergies that can be leveraged from a development or sales standpoint 17. Completes other duties and projects as assigned by executive management Skills and Abilities:· Must be creative, innovative, resourceful, and able to think independently · Must have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels· Must be capable of working within a cross functional environment· Must have excellent communication and presentation skills· Must be capable of making decisions leading to timely resolution of unresolved issues· Must be able to motivate and teach Education and Experience: · Bachelor’s degree in engineering, marketing or business administration preferred · MBA desirable· 5-10 years direct experience with lighting systems, home automation and controls· Experience in sales, training, marketing, business development and product management· Strong industry relationships Percentage of Travel: 20+% Leviton is an AA/EEO employer.
