Job Category: Accounting/Finance/Insurance    Job Description  Director of Accounting Research, Policies and Training- Position reports to Vice President and Assistant Controller - Responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the research of technical accounting issues, maintaining Controllership Policy Manual and Tyco?s global training program. - Manage a group of four individuals Group Function Overview:This role will lead the Accounting Research, Policies and Training Group which is responsible for providing technical accounting guidance and interpretations to Tyco?s global finance organization, tracking activity of Standard Setting in the US (FASB and SEC) and those of the International Accounting Standards Board (?IASB?), analyzing potential impact to Tyco and preparing comment letters to the FASB on proposed standards, leading the implementation of new and complex accounting pronouncements and liaising with D&T audit team and their National Office on Tyco?s technical accounting matters. This group also provides advisory service to Tyco?s senior management, businesses and other constituents on complex accounting matters. In addition, the Accounting Research, Policies and Training Group leads the technical accounting training for Tyco?s global finance organization and responsible for reviewing and revising Tyco?s Controllership Policy Manual as needed to ensure that policies are in line with Tyco?s business practices.Responsibilities:- Review all new accounting pronouncement and work closely with the management, segments and other constituents to assess impact to Tyco- Monitor the activities of all accounting standard setting bodies i.e., SEC, FASB, AICPA, EITF, and International Accounting Standards Board. - Develop and draft our responses to proposals of standard setters and other rule making bodies.- Lead the implementation of new accounting standards across the Company, its segments and business divisions. - Provide technical accounting guidance and recommendations to senior management, segments and various business divisions across the organization principally documented through position papers and related presentations. - Advice on the accounting for complex areas such as hedge accounting, stock based compensation, restructuring.- Work closely and coordinate with other departments such as HR, Treasury and Legal to advice on accounting matters.- Analyze complex and non routine accounting issues. Prepares analysis and recommendations and coordinate with Tyco?s management and external auditors to arrive at sound accounting conclusions- Update Tyco?s Controllership Policy Manual for all new accounting pronouncements and work with the businesses to ensure that policies are implemented properly and consistently across all segments.- Review and revise Tyco?s Controllership Policy Manual as needed to ensure that policies are in line with Tyco?s business practices.- Work Closely with Tyco?s external auditors and Tyco?s Sox team to ensure that policies address US GAAP and Sox requirements.- Responsible for issuing quarterly news letter that summarizes new accounting pronouncements and Controllership Policy developments - Lead the Companies Annual training program on the implications of new and existing accounting standards. - Responsible for preparing monthly accounting issues review to senior management on key accounting issues with alternatives and recommendations. - Responsible for preparing technical accounting updates to senior management and the audit committee.- Responsible for ensuring that new accounting pronouncements are properly reflected in Tyco?s financial statements. - Assist management in preparing and issuing any correspondence to the Securities and Exchange Commission and other regulatory bodies.- Work with external auditors in addressing accounting issues and assist in the support of annual audits and quarterly and other interim reviews. - Assist in the management of various technical and financial reporting initiatives and related projects to ensure teams are on track and provide technical accounting guidance where necessary.Requirements: - Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance- 8 10 plus years? experience of public accounting (big four experience preferred) and/or private experience in financial reporting and/or Accounting Research and Policies- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills- Strong communication and managerial skills- Team playerApply Online Send this Job to a Friend View all "Tyco" jobs Learn more about Tyco        Â
