Latrobe Specialty Steel Company currently has opening for an entry-level Development Engineer. The Development Engineer creates, develops, investigates and implements new or improved products and processes which will increase market penetration and profitability. Also provides technical leadership throughout the company.
Problems of the Development Engineer will normally have solutions from a theoretical base. Work is performed utilizing current discipline practices while developing professional work knowledge and abilities. The Development Engineer works independently or in support of the engineers, performs standard and complex data analysis, and maintains contact with suppliers. Decisions are related to knowledge gained through the education process. This position independently plans daily personal work and is responsible for the following:
1. To provide technical resources, testing, analysis and root cause problem solving for manufacturing, customer service, metallurgical services and marketing.
2. To assist in developing new products and alloys for existing and emerging markets using both metallurgical knowledge and experimental design and evaluation.
3. To assist in new and improved processes – Evaluate and develop new and improved techniques for production to reduce costs and raise product quality. Solve manufacturing problems using metallurgical or engineering skills.
