Desktop Support Engineer
Reports to MIS/IT Manager
Position Summary: Position is responsible for the maintenance and analysis of, troubleshooting and repair of computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals; documentation and maintenance of upgrades, replacement hardware and software systems; provides consultation and customer support to end users as needed.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Assists Network Administrator with LAN/WAN network issues, supports and installs VPN access
· Identifies, researches and resolves technical problems and issues and utilizes logic and methods to resolve difficult problems
· Installs, configures, maintains and troubleshoots all PC’s, laptops, printing devices, wireless devices, scanners, telecom components (switches, hubs, patch panels, routers), and servers along with associated software for each
· Responds to telephone calls, e-mails, and personnel requests for technical support with provision of after-hour call support for users
· Assists in proactively maintaining organization’s hardware and software and keeping standard policies current with technology
· Maintains user backups as units are replaced, rebuilt or upon employee termination
· Maintains Company asset tracking of hardware and ensures that all software has valid licenses
Position Requirements:
· High school education or equivalent certification
· Four or more years of experience in desktop and applicable server configuration, or equivalent training and certifications
· Good understanding of Microsoft Desktop Applications, Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, Office suite; Novell, GroupWise and Cisco
· Good knowledge of hardware and associated technologies: Desktop and Server, Laptops and Printers, Microsoft Operating systems, and LAN/WAN technologies
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; good coaching and instructing skills
· Knowledge of field concepts, practices, and procedures
· Willingness to stay current with technology by completing education, training, and certification courses
· Flexibility to meet tight deadlines and ability to work under pressure
· Driver’s license in good standing, and some travel may be required
Position will begin as a CRC-Evans employee with a temporary status, 90-day introductory period. Successful employment
during the 90-day period will permit conversion to a full-time, regular employee eligible for benefits.
