Design Engineering Team Leader

Position Summary: Work with the Trane E&T Design Engineering Team to develop new HVAC residential indoor/Outdoor/IHE products including condensing units, air handlers, gas furnaces, and cooling coils. Other design work include, but not limited to, design and document parts and assemblies of new as well as existing residential air-conditioning and heating units. Specific responsibilities include part analysis and design, along with the creation of electronic 3D models, and engineering drawings. The majority of the work will be accomplished using Pro-Engineer solid modeling software.Job Responsibilities: • Create critical solid model geometry and engineering drawings using Pro-E • Create and maintain bills of material using Cincom Control • Work as an active/working leader of the Product Development Design Engineering Team Job Specifics: 1. This engineering position will be receiving subsystem design requirements from Systems Engineers, identifying design concepts, and developing these designs into optimal solutions 2. Manage product specific group of Design Engineers and Designers including PMP/PDP and Quarterly Reviews 3. Design for manufacturing, assembly, and ergonomics (DFMAE) 4. Engineering design and Product modeling using Pro-E 3-D CAD software 5. Report writing to summarize results of various studies and analyses 6. Engineering data/unit attribute creation 7. Agency compliance and listings (ARI, UL, CSA, GAMA, etc.) 8. Analyze cost reductions opportunities and provide resolution of quality issues on key components 9. Perform engineering analysis and design using analytical tools such as Pro-E, and other analysis software (FEA, CFD, Tolerance, etc.) 10. Prototype development, scheduling and testing engineering data and unit attribute modification as needed 11. Specifying component and material requirements/specification 12. Engineering data management 13. Drive continuous improvement in reducing product cycle time 14. Drive �Lean� throughout product development processesQualifications: • Education, Experience & Skills: 1. Minimum BS in Engineering required (BSME preferred) 2. 2-5 years experience in design engineering required with previous HVAC or refrigeration systems or components preferred 3. Aptitude for mechanical and/or electrical application equipment design required 4. Good verbal and written communication skills 5. Work effectively in a team oriented environment 6. Must have good conflict management skills and demonstrate versatility in personal interaction Key Competencies: 1. Design Engineering modeling experience required 2.
