About the Position:
We are seeking a Design Engineer to join our team of professionals. The Design Engineer will coordinate all phases of product development including design, testing, analysis and project management for motor, gear motor and related electronics projects.

Duties and responsibilities include:

1. Assist Sales team with initial customer contact to develop mutually beneficial motion solutions to address customer needs. Co-develops initial specifications with customers.
2. Develop robust and cost effective product concepts by applying Buehler’s expertise in our core business segments and developing interface solutions as needed. Coordinates development of complex layouts and approves subsequent part and assembly drawings. Participates in project cost estimating.
3. Facilitate prototype sample builds to ensure customer timing is met.
4. Create, follow and monitor project time lines and schedules according to Product Introduction Procedure and Advanced Quality Planning guidelines. Facilitates concurrent engineering teams.
5. Perform investigative engineering analysis of all types as required; performs complex engineering calculations and computer simulations; applies motor theory.
6. Communicate with customers, suppliers and other Buehler facilities as a technical expert.
7. Analyze/specify/approve part designs based on familiarity with manufacturing materials, processes and applications.
8. Recommend design tools to improve design efficiency and productivity.
9. Maintain records and files related to own work. Organizes records and work efforts to assure timely accomplishment of tasks.
10. Periodically check work area and maintains a neat and orderly work area. Observes company policies related to dress, appearance, attendance, employment, etc.
11. Perform other duties as assigned. Job duties are subject to change as directed by management.

The successful candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 3+ years of experience in motor, gear and power electronic design and development. Experience must include 1+ year(s) of exposure to high volume, low cost, part design and production. CAD design experience is also required. Knowledge of German is a plus. Potential for up to 20% international and domestic travel.

This position is based in Morrisville, NC.
