Database Administrator

Position Purpose

The Database Administrator is responsible for working collaboratively with the IT teams to design, develop and deploy effective data structures. The Database Administrator also performs database installation, configuration, administration, backup/recovery, upgrades, performance tuning and trouble shooting and problem resolution of production databases.Key Accountabilities

Project Management

· Plans and coordinates the activities related to running production database environments.Plans and coordinates the development, test and training environments in support of the production environment.

· Performs database and application monitoring and to ensure databases run at peak performance; troubleshoots performance issues.

· Reviews new database programs, functions, procedures, and packages before they are loaded to production database.

· Assists database sizing and capacity planning to ensure the platforms are robust enough to support the needs of the database.

· Formulates and monitors policies and procedures and standards relating to database management.Maintains database performance by developing tuning methodologies.

· Proposes solutions, in compliance with scope and business requirements, for user and management approval.

Leadership

· Works with IT Operation group to design, implement and test enterprise backup and recovery solution, including Disaster Recovery initiatives.

· Leads small teams coordinating projects such as database upgrades

DSI Administrator

· Designs, implements and maintains DSI product components and application programming interfaces.Supports DSI production applications, Debugs and resolves problems.Designs and documents DSI, scripts and screens to support user requirements.Position Requirements



Skills & Knowledge

· Enterprise Manager – SQL Server

· Database Structures and design

· Microsoft Office

· Strong communication with end-users

· XML, VB, .NET, C#

Experience

· Proven ability to debug and write code

· Object oriented programming

· Worked within environments of manufacturing software

· Team player with ability to work under tight schedules

· Willingness to take on challenges

Education

· Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related experience.

· Training or experience Microsoft SQL or similar database

· Education or experience in data warehousing and/or data modeling
