DESIGN ENGINEER R&D
Fast growing industry leader in lighting manufacturing seeks an experienced Design Engineer to work in our R&D Department. You see our archetectual designed products everyday in office towers, convention centers, educational institutions, airports, underground transit systems, hospitals, and more. Responsibilities: • Organizes design project by identifying short-term and long-range issues; preparing timetables, cost estimates, and required resources. •Determines product requirements by studying product concept, features, specifications, sketches and existing models; analyzing user and potential user input; conferring with design engineers and product managers. • Develop and analyze prototypes and provide engineering support relative to root cause of failures with recommendations. • Ensure accuracy of existing Bill of Materials and enter new BOM's as needed. • Maintain accurate drawings assemblies for all products. • Coordinate activities of different product support functions including building and testing of prototypes to ensure performance, safety, quality, reliability, cost, and manufacturability of product being designed. • Produce drawings and documentation of product line for use in catalogs (both new and existing) • Identify and solve manufacturing and design problems • Locate and qualify suppliers and manufacturers for parts; product material cost analysis. • Initially approve and accept new and modified incoming parts when relative to product design. • Offer design simplification ideas to design team to ensure performance, safety, quality, reliability, cost, and manufacturability of product being designed. • Produce drawings and documentation of product line for use in catalogs (both new and existing) • Identify and solve manufacturing and design problems • Locate and qualify suppliers and manufacturers for parts; product material cost analysis. • Initially approve and accept new and modified incoming parts when relative to product design. • Provides effective in-house technical consultant services in response to questions concerning product safety, efficiency, usability, reliability. • Assists the Engineering Manager to meet new product roll-out schedules and special management requests in support of company goals. • Protects physical and intellectual Company property. • Ensures security necessary to prevent loss from abuse, carelessness, or theft. • Open Communication with purchasing production, vendors and suppliers. • Maintain design team accomplishments by coordinating actions; reviewing open issues and action items. • Prepares design reports by collecting analyzing and summarizing design data. Requirements include: • BSME • Working knowledge of Solid Works (Autodesk Inventor is a plus) • Experience using SAP is a plus • Analytical • Documentation skills • At least 3+ years of Engineering experience in Lighting • Must have ability to handle multiple tasks in a high stress environment • Technical and sheet metal manufacturing background helpful • Position requires self-motivated and dependable professional • Requires excellent verbal and written English communication skills • Knowledge of Six Sigma for Design and Lean Manufacturing a plus.Division/Department : Cooper Lighting Skills : Engineering -> Mechanical, R & D Travel Required : None LOCATION: Hicksville, ks 11801STATUS: Full Time, EmployeeJOB CATEGORY: EngineeringWORK EXPERIENCE: 2+ to 5 YearsCAREER LEVEL: Experienced (Non-Manager)EDUCATION LEVEL:Bachelor's Degree REFERENCE CODE:752
