Customer Service Trainee Basic Function:To direct customer-generated inquiries to the appropriate Parker divisions and/or distributors for subsequent follow-up and process and maintain catalog order information. Scope/Supervision:Works with customers, appointed Parker division contacts and distributors via phone, fax and Web. Works independently with very little direct supervision. Responsibilities: Identifying the appropriate Parker product involved in a customer inquiry received either by mail, fax, or phone and referring that inquiry to the correct source for handling. Follow up on Parker Web leads from Parker Web Site. Process catalog orders from various sources-phone, fax, e-mail, EDI, divisions etc. Maintain current reference information on Parker’s distribution and division network regarding product franchises, addresses, and personnel. Run various catalog activity reports-back orders, inventory, credit, direct charges etc. Assist other agents with product identification and referrals and assist new customer service representatives on use of system and department procedures. Troubleshoot any catalog order problems and issues. Contribute towards providing 24 Hour Emergency Service for callers and participate in rotation of after hour emergency responses. Maintain close relationship with divisions to keep update documentation of all catalog policies and procedures. Maintain information on department primary visual displays. Rotate coverage of late shift personnel and Holiday as needed. Promote department services to current and potential customers. Cross train with other Marketing Departments. Qualifications: High School graduate with some college or equivalent work experience. Excellent telephone personality with clear diction and pleasant voice. Good investigative and probing skills. Ability to handle multiple priorities. Must possess mechanical aptitude necessary to acquire a basic understanding of the application of Parker products. Typing skills. 50 WPM.
