Cost Analyst – Fayetteville, North Carolina Plant
General Description
The Cost Analyst position is located at a large-scale consumer tire manufacturing plant located in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The successful Cost Analyst candidate will play a key role within the plant’s financial organization. They will actively participate in activities such as the annual operating plan (budgeting), monthly and quarterly reporting, month-end closing, and cost and financial analysis as needed. Additionally, they will provide analysis and support to help facilitate financially successful manufacturing operations. This position will work closely with members of the operations areas.
Responsibilities of the Position
· Conducts financial analysis to interpret trends, variances from budgets, variances from standards, and gaps.
· Provides advice and counsel to the plant consistent with established financial policy.
· Participates in plant financial activities, including annual operating plans (budgeting), monthly/quarterly reporting, and financial recommendations.
· Ensures production of timely, accurate, and relevant financial reports to facilitate understanding and analysis of the business and business opportunities.
· Utilizes data to analyze business issues and make recommendations to management.
· Acts as a key communication source for facility questions and information request coming from all levels of the organization.
· Drives improvements in financial processes, including the appropriate use of automation, improvements in the quality and consistency of data and analysis, and elimination of no-value added wor4k.
· Helps ensure accounting records are prepared, maintained, and reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
· Establishes and maintains effective work relationships with all levels of the plant’s manufacturing departments and the divisional management group.
· Maintains the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
Position Requirements
· Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting or Finance
· A minimum of 2 – 5 years of accounting or analysis experience in a manufacturing environment
· Strong Microsoft Excel skills
· Exposure to Sarbanes-Oxley
· Strong communication skills (oral and written)
· Highly organized and possesses the ability to manage concurrent deadlines, and multiple projectsExperience in managing/achieving cost saving initiatives
