Corporate Food Safety & Quality Manager

Kemps LLC, a major producer of high-quality dairy products, seeks a qualified individual to join our Quality Assurance team.

 

Job Purpose:  Works alongside QA Director to guarantee that Kemps and its co-manufacturers maintain product quality standards and ensure high levels of food safety and compliance with applicable Federal and State health regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist QA Director in developing and implementing Quality Management Systems to ensure consistent and effective SOPs, GMP, and Food Safety Programs are practiced at every plant.

2. Manage all food safety and quality aspects of suppliers and co-manufacturers, including: qualification and approval process, analyzing and responding to consumer and/or customer complaints regarding co-packer produced product quality or food safety & requesting and reviewing CAPA when issues arise.

3. Conduct on-site audits of Kemps plants and co-packer facilities to verify and validate that Food Safety and Quality programs are effectively implemented and followed in all plants.

4. Complete the development and implementation of a comprehensive specifications system for Kemps, to include finished product, in-process and raw material specifications.

5. Work collaboratively with Operations and R & D personnel, and develop team based solutions on process improvement activities designed to improve product quality, operational efficiency, and plant sanitation levels. 

6. Ensure food safety through the implementation of FSAP processes.

7. Constantly drive improvement and provide hands-on problem solving skills for critical or reoccurring food safety/quality issues.

 

 Position Requirements:

· Completion of Bachelors degree in Food Science or related curriculum.  Master’s degree in Food Science preferred, but not required.

· A minimum of 5-8 years work experience in a quality assurance/manufacturing role in the food/dairy industry.

· Previous management experience in a quality assurance or plant environment in a food related industry preferred, but not required. 

· Advanced knowledge of quality assurance processes and methods, preferably in a food/dairy industry setting.  Experience in development and implementation of Quality Management Systems.

· Experience conducting facility audits, finding gaps and providing recommendations to improve facility food safety & quality programs.

· Familiarity with microbiology and working knowledge of fundamental methods of quantitative analysis and statistical methods.

· Ability to work independently and multi-task.

· Ability to work with people at all levels of the organization.

· Must possess excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.  Must show good leadership, communication, and follow-up skills.
