Collections/Letter of Credit Specialist

 

MicroPoise Measurement Systems, LLC is a capital equipment manufacturer of computer and PLC controlled production machinery for the automotive and tire industry.  We are located in Akron and have an immediate opening for a Collections/Letter of Credit Specialist.

 

Summary:  Manages all customer accounts and secures payment by performing the following duties. Coordinates all Standby Letter of Credit requirements for customer downpayment, mechanical guarantee and bid bond.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following

Other duties may be assigned. All duties are to be completed in a timely and accurate manner as assigned.Collections/Credit

Generates daily/weekly/monthly reports used to manage and/or communicate collection efforts through to collection.

 

Confers with customer by telephone or email in attempt to determine reason for overdue payment, reviewing terms of sales, service, or credit contract with customer.  Uses customer websites/EDI to obtain payment status information.

 

Works closely with Micro-Poise international offices to secure payments from international customers.

 

Records information about financial status of customer and status of collection efforts.

 

Maintains customer credit/terms database. Runs credit check for new customers requesting open terms, including reference and bank contacts.  May run and analyze Dunn & Bradstreet reports.

 

Makes recommendation regarding appropriate actions to be taken, ie credit hold.

 

Creates monthly Past Due Summary Report.  Requires drill down and understanding of issues preventing payment, as well as ability to summarize in concise, meaningful manner to a wide ranging audience through and including senior management and the BOD.

 

Researches and resolves customer credits from aging report.

 

Works closely with Accounts Receivable clerk and assists with cash application problems when necessary. Letters of Credit

Gathers all pertinent information required to issue a Standby Letter of Credit.  Documents will vary depending on nature of LC, ie Downpayment, Mechanical Guarantee or Bid Bond.

 

Works with foreign and domestic contracts.  Reviews customer contract position covering L/C requirements.

 

Completes Standby Letter of Credit Application.

 

Corresponds with issuing bank.

 

Accounting

Participates in month end closing process, including:Monthly/quarterly balance sheet reconciliationsAssist Engineering managers in establishing monthly engineering accrualsCalculate Bad Debt ReserveReconcile Intercompany Receivables & Payables with Michigan and international offices.

General

Will serve as the back-up for the Accounts Receivable function, including cash application, customer invoicing and travel expense processing.

 

Will serve as the back-up in preparing the Daily Cash Report.

 

Education & Experience Requirements:

 Minimum 5 – 7 years work experience with all facets of collections, related legal documentation and accounting functions or minimum 2 year Associates degree in an accounting related field.4-year degree from an accredited institution in an accounting related field is preferredProven experience in working with legal documentationAble to interact with and influence others effectivelyExcellent verbal and written communications skillsMust be proficient with the Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Access
