MAJOR PURPOSE OF POSITION

Assist engineers in those phases of product development and design activities applicable to the electrical systems for the Mining Machinery Division product line.

JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Familiarization with Surface Mining Equipment- Draglines, Electic Mining Shovels and BlastHole Drills.


2. Training on and use of computer-aided drafting systems and engineering product data management software. (Solidworks (3D) and/or Promis-e, ematrix).


3. Creation of simple parts and assemblies and design of small sub-system components. Simple component design calculations.


4. Familiarization with power distribution and control systems of mining equipment.


5. Expsoure to Machine Control Practivce and Techniques (including the use of PLC's & HMI's) through basic control system design. Setting of control parameters to match sold machine configuration and archiving of software.


6. Create purchase specifications for electrical subsystems as required by sales contracts and submit to key vendors through Purchasing.


7. Design of complex assemblies and parts to be used in production.


8. Completion of system design calculations.


9. In-depth exposure to new development projects at various stages of completion.


10. Researching and adapting new technologies to existing designs.


11. Learn proper design criteria for sizing of conduits and cables for machine applications.


12. Learn proper machine control hardware design concepts and component sizing and the use of PLC's, sensors, actuators, transformers and other components.
