Buyer/Planner, Sr. Monrovia, CAJOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:• On Time Delivery and Fill Rate of 100%.• Coordinate Buyer action reports, open work orders, and customer forecasts to ensure subassemblies and component parts are accounted for and shipped in accordance with customer demand.• Negotiate with Sales and Customer Service Available to Promise dates.• Conduct supplier coordination and specification clarification with identified suppliers to ensure receipt of quality parts.• Coordinate with appropriate in house organizations to assure quality parts are delivered to our customers.• Assume leadership to quickly resolve issues highlighted by cycle counts.• Based upon cycle counts, visual review of kanbans, and reconciliation of MRP reports adjust inventory as required.• Generate work orders in support of customer demands and forecasts to eliminate shortages.• Notify Quality representatives of need for First Article part inspection and follow-up to completion.• Formulate the Engineering, Operations and Quality team to evaluate new suppliers.• Conduct database clean up as required.• Update purchase part standard cost or equal in CINCOM.• Ensure all production lines are free from line shortages.• Ensure on hand quantities, material receipts, MRP data, shipping quantities and data integrity is accurate.• Review open and late purchase order report routinely to preclude shortages.• Through utilization of kanbans and MRP develop methodologies to eliminate expediting.• Review MRP and Kanbans daily to ensure adequate inventory is on hand to support production lines.• Place orders for purchase parts as dictated by MRP and establish kanbans that enable associates to order material.• Participate in forecasting and inventory management to avoid floor shortages.• Participate in Configuration Control and Material Review Board meetings to ensure hardware is purchased and disposition.• Collaborate with accounting to resolve memo's to buyers, credit hold issues, invoice errors, packing slip mistakes and purchase order reconciliation to ensure on hand quantities are accurately depicted in MRP system or Kanbans.• Evaluate, coordinate and provide leadership in the disposition of Slow Moving Obsolete Inventory.• Initiate and implement Engineering Change Orders and deviations for assigned product line parts. • Achieve a systematic reduction of supplier lead times and graphically display progress monthly.• Advise operations management on logistical considerations as they influence cycle time, transportation, and product costs.• In collaboration with product line members establish kanbans and follow-up to ensure efficient operation.• Establish plans to establish visual kanbans for all product line requirements and track performance to plan.• Consistently completes assignments on time.• Assumes responsibility, takes leadership, and follows tasks through to conclusion.• Demonstrates initiative.• Expedite importation of finished goods.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND:• This position requires a minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing organization. • A college degree or equivalent is required.• Any APICS training and/or certification are desirable.• Prior experience with material planning and production control. • Familiarity with electronics manufacturing is preferred. • Additional experience working with new product introductions / engineering projects. • Knowledge of computerized MRP systems is critical. • Export/Import Knowledge.• Understand MRP requirements.• Ability to comprehend purchasing and inventory data in a computerized MRP system.• Familiarity with commercial electronics building practices and control methods desired.• Must be able to work in a small, effective materials team. • Take responsibility for the execution of the production plan and the integrity of work order data.• Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision.• Ability to train others in the proper use of work orders and other inventory control methods.• Understand the concept of capacity planning and the methods used to assess available capacity.• Demonstrated ability to make decisions, formulate and execute alternative plans when the need arises.• Ability to work well with others to accomplish tasks in support of the production plan and meet shipping deadlines.
