Buyer/Planner

Responsibilities: Purchase Orders (PO) and Transfer Orders-ensure that the appropriate inventory/material is ordered on time (and is the appropriate volume) to support the MRP/MPS schedule. The buying function also includes expediting or de-expediting material as required by the MRP/MPS process. PO status is direct to Sourcing department. KPI Statistics-ensures that vendor/supplier performance is reported (KPI-Vendor Score Card) to Corporate Sourcing. vendor/Supplier Selection- Buyers or Buyer/Planners are limited to placing POs and expediting PO status. Required to order from pre-approved (re:Sr. Buyers) sources. Input (KPI data) and participation is involved in vendor management situations. Vendor/Supplier Interaction- Buyer/Planner is required to manage PO status . Status calls and interaction, as applicable, to ensure prompt inventory/ materials delivery. GR/IR  Reconciliation -responsible for keeping GR/IR balances at or below the Material Management goal. MRO-Buyer has expanded authority to order MRO type supplies (non0production related) at the request of authorized plant personnel. Corporate Procurement Card ('P' card) use as required. Maintain System Accuracy-Insures data problems are identified and resolved. Must maintain accurate system information in support of MPS viability.

Roles:

Process: JET/JIT Planning and or Consumption Replenishment. MRP/MPS. Sourcing and PO management atmosphere.

Focus: Based on MPS/MRP requirements, the BUyer places Pos and/or Transfer Orders to ensure material availability (consistent with production requirements). Ensure out-of-stock situations are minimized.

PO direction is generated by Sourcing and is consistent with Demand Forecast requirements.

Ordering guidelines are derived from MRP and inventory plans. It is noted that ordering  must remain consistent with approved vendor/supplier lists. (furnished by Sr. Buyers-Sourcing).

Functions as the MRO buyer (plant non-production related supplies).
