SUMMARY:

 

The Buyer is primarily responsible for acquiring materials, supplies and services and placing purchase orders for goods that have standard costs and quoted discounts already in place.  Coordinates purchasing activities with other departments to maintain inventory at planned levels.  Reviews opportunities for new supply sources and suitability of materials offered.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  Supplier assessment—includes developing additional sources Negotiations Purchase order placement and expediting of purchase orders as necessary Material planning Raw material inventory management including cycle time reduction and scrap accuracy process flow Management of inventory turns and total raw material inventory Develop long-term supplier partnerships

 

Other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

 

Bachelor’s degree in area of Business or Management. and a minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible purchasing responsibilities experience and/or training; or Associates Degree plus six (6) years of progressively responsible purchasing responsibilities experience and/or training.

 

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

 

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, internal and external customers.

 

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, along with problem solving, project management, and decision-making skills required.

 

Solid manufacturing and operations experience required as well as the ability to manage multiple/diverse priorities. Demonstrated ability to manage in a changing environment required.
