Buyer

We have an immediate opening for an experienced Buyer. This position, reporting to the Manufacturing Operations Manager and based in our Lindon, Utah facility, will be responsible for the sourcing and purchasing of a variety of materials, parts, and/or supplies for support of operational requirements. Duties of the position include:Independently takes leadership role to qualify new, critical sources of supply. Develops new critical supply sources where current suppliers are inadequate.Takes leadership role in negotiating pricing and contractual terms with critical suppliers. Solicits quotations, examines bids, and makes award to approved critical suppliers. Works with accounts payable to reconcile problem invoices. Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, follows up on orders placed, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records.Takes leadership role in developing and executing a corrective action plan for critical suppliers not meeting performance expectations. Confers with suppliers and analyzes suppliers’ operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.Acquires and maintains technical understanding of products purchased.Maintain the inventory in the MRP Manufacturing System by applying sound inventory management techniques. Takes appropriate action to resolve inventory problems by analyzing material shortage reports as well as excess inventory reports.Performs cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities.May recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis. Works closely with manufacturing and engineering departments to obtain necessary technical information to evaluate proposals in a timely manner.May act as the technical interface between suppliers and development engineers, determining new and alternative resources.May develop guidelines/procedures on vendor selection.May maintain supplier qualification data and records.

The successful candidate will have a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience that would include the following:

·  Knowledge normally acquired through completion of a four (4) year degree in Business Administration or related field and a minimum of 5+ year’s direct purchasing experience.

·  Analytical skills to collect, research and interpret a variety of business, technical and financial data; gathers and analyzes information skillfully.

·  Problem solving skills in order to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

·  Customer service skills in order to respond promptly to customer needs.

·  Skill to understand business implications of decisions; ability to demonstrate an orientation to profitability.

·  Strategic thinking skills in order to develop and execute strategies to achieve organizational goals.

·  Knowledge of MRP-based order processing systems and Microsoft products (Word, Excel, etc.) required.
