Business Development Summary
Your role will be to seek out and develop new business opportunities with assigned vertical market segments and/or geographic locations, which include identifying and qualifying, closing and/or escalating sales opportunities to Strategic Account Managers or Inside Sales Representatives. Since you will be measured on the revenue you drive to Digi's sales organization you will actively participate in the identification and qualification of sales opportunities and the assignment of accounts to appropriate sales personnel. You will be an important part of this dynamic fast paced team and integral to Digi's sales success and overall growth.
Your Required RoleDevelop an in-depth understanding of targeted vertical segments and customers in those segments in order to anticipate current and future sales opportunities. Focus efforts on having Digi become the end users product of choice. Contribute to the development of product and vertical market strategies through building an effective partnership with product management and marketing teams to share information on potential vertical applications, market potential and product requirements. Suggest and participate in Vertical/Regional/Corporate Trade Shows, seminars, or other vertical oriented sales/marketing events working in conjunction with our marketing communications team. Qualify, close and/or escalate leads and opportunities in new markets or with new customers (or in new applications with existing customers). This includes assisting customers in product selection and configuration including reference selling of appropriate third party software and hardware when necessary. Meet and exceed sales and new business development quotas. Maintain detailed account profiles and activities, including statistics, forecasts and reports and update management on account status, business opportunities and trends on a regular basis. Maintain knowledge of all Digi products and their applications, with special focus on products and applications appropriate to assigned verticals. Maintain knowledge and awareness of competitive products and programs in assigned vertical segments.
You Bring to DigiBachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field. 2-4 years successful hardware sales experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in any of the following verticals:traffic management, building automation, health care, retail, government, data centers, or industrial automation. A cellular/remote device management technology background would be nice. Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, a positive attitude, and a proactive approach are a must and you should be very adept and comfortable giving presentations and interacting with customers at all levels. Must be comfortable making cold calls via telephone. Travel to trade shows and customer sites are necessary. Technology industry experience also required. Must have complete understanding of data communications concepts.
