Position Description:

Responsible for generating, developing and implementing mechanical, electrical, laminate, and structural system designs. This will include use of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools to ensure designs are robust and manufacturing friendly. These systems must meet all necessary internal quality and supplier requirements and be executed in the most cost -effective manner.Duties and Responsibilities:• Ensure reliable engineering and integration of boat systems to include but not limited to plumbing, fuel systems, and water systems, hardware development, and mechanical component layouts, electrical panel design, lamination schedules, aluminum superstructures. • Ensure that designs meet all supplier, regulatory and internal quality standards and specifications.• Ensure that equipment and component suppliers are consulted with during design and during the resolution of technical issues.• Work with suppliers on the development of new systems and components to ensure continuous improvement in the quality and value of our boats systems.• Participate in manufacturing integration activities to ensure successful launches of new products and technologies.• Work with Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering on issues resolution.• Ensure that designs have been fully validated and that they meet necessary system specifications and performance requirements.• Utilize Lean Six Sigma methodologies to ensure manufacturability and variation reduction.• Track and utilize warranty data to identify issues related to mechanical systems for mitigation purposes.• Provide technical evaluations and reports on issues for customer service and field problems.• Provide integration and trouble shooting support to manufacturing.• Synthesize and develop new product ideas in the form of 2D drawings and 3D models. • Ensure compliance with all necessary industry, domestic and international government regulations. • Participate as appropriate on industry technical committees (ABYC, etc.)• Ensure that all materials used in the manufacture of finished products have been tested and approved for quality and reliability.• Ensure adequate and accurate documentation to support manufacturing including but not limited to construction drawings and process work instructions.• Complete necessary actions and documentation to support High Performance Product Development.• Review and approve systems related engineering changes (ECNs.)• Apply relevant voice of the customer and systems engineering input to designs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree in (Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, related discipline) required • Lean Six Sigma experience a plus• NMMA product certification helpful• ABYC product knowledge helpful• ISO regulatory knowledge helpful• CAD experience; Unigraphix preferred• Familiar with manufacturing processes, technologies and measures - emphasis on failure analysis• Proficiency in PC based tools with a focus on Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Lotus Notes, AS-400 and general web based applications
