Automation Sales Engineer - West

ESAB is unique with a fully integrated concept, which brings the material handling, arc path manipulation, weld process and equipment, right up to the filler metals. Because ESAB is the supplier of filler metals, we maintain close customer contact year after year, well after the automation equipment was installed and commissioned. This allows ESAB to work with the customer, to fulfill his needs of growing and changing business.
The automation people work closely with all other groups within ESAB: filler metals, standard machinery and mechanized cutting. Each member of the team brings value to the customer, and in total allows ESAB to provide virtually all the customer’s needs.
Job Objectives:
· Responsible to grow Esab market share of automation products in the territory. To create demand for the products at end users.
· To select, support and grow distributor channels for the automation.
· To provide technical consultation as required to the automation customers.
· To coordinate and provide feedback to the other Esab product groups, such as the total Esab offering is maximized to the automation customers. To follow-up on leads generated by the other ESAB sales groups.
· Actively pursue ideas in developing market needs/strategies and value-added activities
· Conduct product seminars and demonstrations. Attend distributor sales meetings to present promotions and open houses and demonstrate products to key industrial accounts.
Candidate Requirements:
· Candidate should have at least 7-10 years of Sales Engineer experience in technical industrial sales, preferably in heavy industrial equipment. Technical Recommendation experience required.
· Mechanical Engineering or Welding Technology degree preferred or, equivalent work experience (15-20 years).
· Ideal candidate should have welding process knowledge, preferably in submerged arc welding, workpiece handling, fixturing, and plant engineering.
· The candidate is expected to be able to make technical recommendations on welding process, production methods, time study comparisons, etc.
· The salesperson must be comfortable with selling through distributors and direct to end users.
Base salary is 70-80K plus bonus. 1st year compensation falls within the range of $90K-100K (base and incentive). We offer excellent benefits, strong 401K plan and a phenomenal car allowance program!
