Associate Mechanical Specialist
Associate Mechanical Specialist Tyco Fire Suppression & Building Products is a division of Tyco Safety Products and a worldwide leader in the fire suppression and building products industries. Within Tyco Safety Products, we design, manufacture, and distribute thousands of products ranging from fire detection and suppression systems, personal protective equipment and intrusion security to access control and video solutions, anti-theft and supply chain solutions. Tyco Fire Suppression & Building Products (TFSBP) has recently been created by combining the 2 independent and successful businesses of Tyco Fire & Building Products and Tyco Fire Suppression. We are currently searching for an Associate Mechanical Specialist to be located in our Cranston, Rhode Island facility. Job Responsibilities: This position is responsible to review 2D line drawings and create technical illustrations, graphics, and/or three-dimensional models of mechanical piping systems and develop cost comparisons between traditional piping systems and Grinnell Grooved Piping Systems for use by sales and customer service.· Develops drawings, diagrams, and/or models of mechanical systems for use by sales and customer service. · Creates Bill of Materials for Sales using customer supplied engineering drawings· Creates cost comparisons of various piping methods for use by sales and customer service.· Maintains records of work performed. · Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Job Requirements:· High School diploma or GED with 1 – 2 years of general mechanical experience including, but not limited to, drafting, piping, electrical, or circuit knowledge· Ability to develop technical diagrams and/or construct models of mechanical systems. · Knowledge of the properties and application of a range of materials and media used in model fabrication. · Skills in the utilization of specified computerized 3-D Modeling design programs. · Records maintenance skills. · Computer skills, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment. · Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Extended hours may be required based on business needs. Travel may be required while attending business meeting, and meetings with outside agencies, vendors, clients and personnel. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
