Assistant Plant Manager
Responsible for the management, through plant superintendents, foremen and/or general foremen and other staff, for manufacturing activities and/or auxiliary manufacturing services. Performs under the general direction of a plant manager or other division manager.
Typical Duties Include:
• Selects, assigns, evaluates and instructs superintendents, foremen and/or engineers. Advises supervisors regarding direction of their employees.
• Exercises supervision with respect to production volume, cost and quality of production; meeting production and delivery dates.
• Directs auxiliary functions within a plant to support manufacturing operations: material control, tooling engineering, estimating, purchasing (MRO). Responsible for maintenance of plant and production facilities, including preventative maintenance program.
• Supervises plant operations in plant manager's absence.
• Forecasts labor requirements and recommends equipment and layout changes.
• Recommends changes in production methods or material handling procedures.
• Maintains compliance with Company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices.
• Coordinates with quality control managers to ensure that products meet company standards and specifications.
REQUIRED:
• Considerable knowledge of plant operations; comprehensive knowledge within areas of responsibility.
• Ability to analyze and interpret blueprints and production drawings and plan cost efficient work procedures that meet quality requirements
• Ability to build, lead and participate on a team.
• Completion of B.S. degree in Engineering, Production Management, Industrial Technology or related areas and extensive experience in plant operations and supervision; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which results in the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
