 Description

 

The Assistant Network Administrator’s role is to assist the Network Systems Manager to ensure the stable operation of the Fund’s computer and telephone network. The ideal candidate for this position must be able to communicate well with company personnel. The candidate must be able to support a medium size network domain. Candidate must be able to troubleshoot & repair issues like application errors, OS problems, administer network user security needs, monitor server availability and network performance. 

 Responsibilities will include:

· Assist with management and support of:

o  Windows/Linux servers, including e-mail, print, application and backup servers and their associated and software.

o Security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.

o Network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, and UPS’s.

o End user accounts, permissions, and access rights.

o VMWare VI3 server farm

o Server and security audits.

o Server Backups and Recovery

· Oversee managment, installation, configuration and maintenance of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.

· Assist with support of end users.

· Assist with equipment, hardware and software upgrades.

· Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation.

· Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports. Qualifications

 

·  3 to 5 years experience administering Windows based computers in a Windows Server 2003 Active Directory with MS Exchange 2003. 

·  Technical understanding of TCP/IP networking, switching and routing is required. Cisco experience is a plus. 

·  Experience with VMWare ESX Server.

·  Conceptual understanding of server class storage and Storage Area Networks

 

· Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.

· Knowledge of HIPAA data privacy practices and laws.

· Strong written and oral communication skills.

· Strong interpersonal skills.

· Ability to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.

· Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.

· Highly self motivated and directed.

· Keen attention to detail.

· Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.

· Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

· Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
