Applications Support Engineer - Microcalorimetry

 

An immediate opening exists in the Sales Support Applications Laboratory in New Castle, Delaware for an Applications Scientist specializing in Microcalorimetry. This position will be responsible for the following:

·  Evaluate customer sample submissions and formulate detailed analysis procedures.

·  Ensure that the analyses are consistent with both the Technical Representative and customers objectives, are technically sound and maximize the sales opportunity of the sample submission.

·  Perform analyses on a variety of thermal analysis techniques as required.

·  Prepare presentations for Technical Representatives and customers.

·  Provide technical support to users and field sales by phone and email.

·  Provide technical support to the training program by creating training course content and conducting formal and informal training courses.

·  Provide technical support to various sales, marketing and service functions, as required.

 

The successful candidate will have a combination of knowledge, skills and experience that would include the following:

·  The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in Biochemistry or Biophysics and must demonstrate a clear understanding of the field of Microcalorimetry.  Additional experience with Thermal Analysis a plus.

·  Exhibit superior oral and written communications skills in order to present data to customers and peers.

·  Ability to respond rapidly and effectively to changing business needs and priorities.

·  Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.

·  Ability to organize and prioritize work activities and to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

·  Strong interpersonal skills to effectively deal with customers and co-workers.

·  Ability to travel, by both air and ground carrier, within and outside the United States to visit customers and other TA Instruments sites is required.

·  Employee is regularly required to work with and around electricity, compressed gases, and liquid nitrogen.  Employee must have a high regard to personal safety and be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
