Exterran is seeking an Applications Engineer Staff in our Houston, TX location.
Primary Responsibilities and AssignmentsExtensive knowledge required to perform daily engineering tasks associated with process design, proposal preparation, and project execution related to natural gas production, treating, and processing equipment and facilities. Thorough background in conceptual design, process simulation, PFD and P&ID development, equipment design, sizing, specification, and selection, system hydraulic design, bid preparation, PHA/HAZOP review, operator training, plant start-up, troubleshooting, and performance testing. Review customer’s technical documents of assigned projects. Performs simulations and calculations to determine if process systems are designed and engineered to meet customer’s requirements in a technically efficient and commercially viable manner. Works closely with lead Process Engineers and Project Managers assigned to the project to ensure that scope of supply and design parameters are clear and well defined. Assists applications engineers on technical issues related to preparation of proposals and evaluates equipment performance to assure the best application is met. Provides engineering calculations for complete heat and material balances, line sizing for all systems, equipment sizing including hydraulic level specification, retention and settling times, instrumentation specification, PFD and P&ID development. Provides engineering to evaluate customer comments on approval drawings for technical and commercial content additions and supports each facility fabrication and shop questions during assembly of equipment.
Education and Certification
Required:Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Chemical Engineering or related field.
Specific Work Background/Experience
Required:Four to ten years engineering and design experience with natural gas production, treating, and processing equipment and facilities including: Oil and Gas Separation; Dehydration; Amine Treating; Refrigeration Systems; J-T Units; LPG Recovery; Fractionation.
