Company information:
Sandvik Coromant, the world's #1 supplier of cutting tools and know-how for competitive machining, is currently seeking an Advanced Solutions Engineer in Pontiac, Michigan.

Job responsibilities:
The candidate will work on their own and under the general direction of the Advanced Solutions Manager.  The Advanced Solutions Engineer is responsible for the provision of technical support, quote review, recommendation of products, and field support for Sandvik Coromant Engineered Products.

Key performance areas:
The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to the following:
- Design recommendations and solutions for complete tooling systems for all types of
  metalworking machinery or any machinery capable of using Sandvik Coromant products.
- Review engineered product quotes for accuracy, completeness and feasibility.
- Make planned sales calls with other Sandvik Coromant personnel to customer sites for
  evaluation and examination of machines, drawings/prints, sites and application evaluation.
- Act as a liaison between the Sales Department, Manufacturing location, and customer.
- Prepare, maintain and submit expense reports, call reports, customer visit reports, test
  reports, PA reports, technical evaluations, and other reports are required in a timely and
  accurate manner.
- Make recommendations on designs and quotations for Sandvik Coromant Special Products.
- On own, and in conjunction with other Sandvik Coromant personnel, run tests on special
  product items at customer's facility or other locations.  Take part in PIP activities.
- Prepare and conduct training and product presentations for customers, distributors and
  Sandvik Coromant personnel.
- Use company provided laptop computer.
- Meet established goals for Special Product sales volume and Administration and Sales (A&S)
  expense.
- Support the goals for product sales and Gross Profit of Special Products.
- Perform administration tasks including, but not limited to, submission of drawings for
  approval, and requests for training in a timely and accurate manner.
- Establish and maintain quote library in conjunction with established guidelines.
- Establish and maintain library of competitor activities and products regarding Special
  Products.

Conditions of Employment:
- Activities take place primarily in an office environment with substantial interaction in a
  manufacturing/factory/production environment.
- Carry and maintain tooling samples and sample cases weighing not more than 25 pounds
  per case.
- Required to examine tooling for defects or wear as requested using a magnifier.
- Required to store and retrieve drawings and technical information from varied sources
  including, but not limited to books, catalogs and computer systems.
- Comply with safety standards and procedures in customer and Sandvik Inc. facilities
  including, but not limited to, wearing protective clothing.

Job requirements:
- Employee must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Requires a minimum of an Associate degree in Applied Science with two to three years of
  job related experience or equivalent experience in a technical application position with a
  similar industry.
- Must be able to perform mathematical calculations applicable to products applications and
  design including but no limited to trigonometric, algebraic and logarithmic calculations.
- Employee must be legally eligible to work in the United States, Canada & Mexico.
- Employee must have a valid driver's license.
- Employee may be required to undergo security clearance screening and obtain same for
  entry into some customer facilities.
- 40% Domestic and International travel is likely.
