Accounting Controls Manager

Our Corporate Headquarters, located in Lisle, IL, is seeking an experienced Accounting Controls Manager for our Corporate Finance Department. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Position is responsible for oversight and guidance of global Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance program, including planning, scoping and risk assessment, coordination of SOX teams, development of test plans, review of documentation and reporting on results. 

Position will also assist with designing and executing consistent strategies and processes around the world for accounting and internal control, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles in the U.S., Securities and Exchange Commission regulations and SOX.
1. Administer SOX compliance program
a. Facilitate risk assessment, scoping and planning efforts
b. Schedule teams for testing, including third party resources
c. Adjust audit plans as needed
d. Monitor progress of teams
e. Review testing documentation
f. Monitor and report on control deficiencies
g. Continually seek ways to improve the process and streamline the SOX compliance program
2. Communicate with, educate and prepare entity Controllers for changes to SOX process changes, accounting policies and procedures.
3. Help design, implement and continually enhance policies, procedures and systems.
4. Strengthening the disciplined mindset around the company relating to accounting processes and internal control.
5. Support the Director of Accounting with analysis as needed for global accounting, including systems and processes, while anticipating future needs.

EDUCATION:
Required:Undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting, CPA certification
Preferred:   MBA

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Required:   -  5+ years in external audit or controls related position
-  2+ years SOX experience
-  Able to influence, drive process, implement change, proactively lead and advise in a rapidly changing business environment while demonstrating a high level of transparency, accountability and collaboration cross-functionally.
- Experience with varied financial reporting and accounting practices in large global companies with an emphasis in a manufacturing environment.
- Deep technical knowledge and experience with internal controls and SOX compliance programs, including both business processes and IT general controls.
- Strong knowledge of accounting for inventory.
- Ability to identify breakdowns in internal controls and suggest enhancements to improve the control environment.
- Analytical thinking skills for interpretation of accounting rules and their application to specific transactions
- International experience and a comfort in operating across multiple cultures in multiple geographies.
- A demonstrated ability to manage across the diverse challenges of a high growth domestic business and the discipline required of a large, global organization.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

 -  Experience with TeamMate, Hyperion and SAP
 -  Technical knowledge and experience with US and international accounting standards and inciples and relevant emerging issues impacting public company accounting and financial  reporting.

OTHER: U.S. and international travel is occasionally required.
