Accountant

Job Summary:

The Accountant position is responsible for applying principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.

Essential Job Duties:

· Analyzing financial information detailing all balance sheet accounts and portions of the profit and loss accounts.

· Preparing balance sheet and profit and loss statements, and other financial, sales, and inventory reports.

· Analyze inventory transaction and prepare inventory valuations.

· Prepare gross profit analysis on sales.

· Calculate commission based on various factors.

· Reviewing, investigating, and correcting errors and inconsistencies in financial entries.

· Assigning department cost allocations.

· Assisting in development of procedures and reports at retail stores.

· Auditing inventory twice a year.

· Maintaining fixed asset system.

· Assisting accounting department and retail staff with resolving issues.

· Assisting the Accounting Manager with special projects.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

· Detail oriented and demonstrated ability to work accurately with numbers.

· Solid analytical skills, including detecting and resolving problems.

· Strong math aptitude in addition, multiplication, subtraction, division, and percentages.

· Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to multi task.

· Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

· Ability to work independently and as a team member.

· Ability to work with different personalities.

· Ability to provide accounting guidance and explanation to co-workers.

· Proficient in building and using Microsoft excel spreadsheets, email, and automated accounting system software.

· Ability to maintain a valid driver's license.

 

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from four-year college or university; and three to five years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Travel Requirements:

Interface with and travel to company-owned stores up to 15% of time, staying overnight for up to 1 week each time.
