Hospira Boulder Operation is an API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) GMP Manufacturing facility of approximately 100 employees. We operate a 24/7 manufacturing schedule with 12 hour production shifts with 4 - 6 other manufacturing operators. API (Chemical) Manufacturing Technician In this role you will work in a chemical manufacturing environment and mutli-task, work independently within strict cGMP guidelines and assist in all areas needed. This position will be 2nd shift (5:45 pm to 6:15 am) and you will work a 3-2-2-3 schedule, which includes working every other weekend. You will perform a variety of small (10 kg batch size) generic API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) manufacturing tasks (rotovaping, chromotography, distillation, filtration, crystalization, drying, packaging, and misc. chemical reactions) and activities related to advancing the product through various processes to achieve prescribed level of purity, quality and consistency. Additionally, you will clearly define processes and fill out process documentation as required. Other responsibilities: Receive training in process tasks, scientific theory and process documentation in order to become qualified under cGMP guidelines to perform generic API pharmaceutical manufacturing tasks Perform process manufacturing tasks including operation of small and large scale equipment, weighing, measuring, monitoring of raw and in-process materials to assure batches contain proper ingredients, quantities and process output Prepare batches of solvents of other process ingredients as required Perform and monitor multiple process tasks simultaneously in order to most efficiently drive product through production steps Identify and inform supervisor of equipment malfunctions or process outputs that do not meet expected outcomes Fill out process documentation timely and accurately as required by SOPs Maintain manufacturing areas to identified standards of cleanliness and neatness Perform any related hazardous waste duties in accordance with internal controlled documents, local, State and Federal regulations To be successful in this position, you must possess: High school diploma or GED; college course work in science highly desirable Minimum of 2+ years of experience in chemical or pharmaceutical process operations Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hands and tools to operate small/large-scale equipment; ability to effectively read and understand SOPs Ability to write sufficiently to fill out documentation and write about events clearly and concisely Strong interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors and to act in concert with others to achieve tasks Understanding of basic math skills Ability to engage in restricted manufacturing area activities Willingness to be in a hazardous environment with risk of exposure to chemicals, fumes, and heat and cold Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; crawl, climb, read, twist torso and stand for long periods of time Capability to push/pull material handling equipment up to 200lbs Willingness to undergo a background screen, drug test and fitness for duty exam is required Ability to wear a respirator Hospira offers a balanced work culture as well as competitive compensation and benefits.
