The Position: Performs wet chemical and instrumental analysis on all types of routine, non-routine and special samples using prepared, modified, or new analytical procedures. Guides, assigns work to and checks results of Analyst B and/or Analyst C, on receipts of priority assignments from the Senior Analyst, Section Leader or Supervisor. Instructs and trains laboratory personnel in the use of new and modified procedures. Assists Supervisor or Section Senior Analyst in the development of new or modified analytical procedures. Assumes Section Leader responsibility in the absence of the Supervisor, Project Analyst, or Senior Analyst. Reports analytical results directly to those requesting laboratory service within the limitations established by the Supervisor. Maintains instrumentation in the assigned section, which entails providing problem solving and corrective actions. The Requirements: Analyst A, requires three or more years as an Analyst B, or in lieu of this experience, a college degree with chemistry major and one-year of laboratory experience. Must be able to satisfactorily perform any test in the spectrographic section or any test in two sections of the Analytical Laboratory. For an Analyst B, the position requires a high school education or equivalent and one year chemistry and algebra required, plus two years manufacturing and/or quality control experience.
