Task Manager, Library

Advanced Resource Technologies, Inc. (ARTI), is currently recruiting for a Task Manager, Library in support of a contract with Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) at our Arlington, VA location. Position is full-time, exempt. Start date is immediate upon selection and security clearance processing as required.

SUMMARY

Responsible for managing the library for Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA), the central research and development organization for the Department of Defense (DoD). DARPA manages and directs selected basic and applied research and development cutting edge projects for DoD and pursues research and technology in support of our national security where both risk and payoff are very high and where success may provide dramatic advances for traditional military roles and missions.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Library Management
• Complete documentation of processes, procedures, job aids and reference materials to enable office workflow to be implemented as a routine method of operation.
• Ensure complete customer satisfaction in all products/services provided by the Library/TIO staff.

Information Management
• Manage Agency subscriptions, commercial online database accounts, NTIS, DTIC, and GPO accounts.
• Conduct online searches for agency personnel and contractors in a variety of databases (DIALOG, Westlaw, Lexis-Nexis, ProQuest, EbscoHost, First Search, and the Internet).
• Maintain the Agency’s online database for processing public release requests, and coordinates periodic revisions to the database.
• Implement policy, assign responsibilities, and identify information that must be cleared for public release.
• Respond to requests for review of information submitted voluntarily by non-DoD sources to ensure that such material does not contain classified information.

Budget Development/Administration
• Participate in development of annual budget; work with vendors to obtain cost estimates.
• Administer the approved budget; monitor purchase requests, reconcile budget reports,
• project budget shortfalls/excess, and re-allocate funds.

Personnel Administration
• Hire, train, and supervise staff members.
• Maintain personnel records.
• Administer all personnel actions, e.g. payroll authorizations, timesheets, personal and sick leave, disability leave, and annual appraisals.
• Constantly improve the technical abilities of the Library/TIO staff.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of library and/or research experience to include 1-2 years of management experience required. Supervisory experience desired.
• Experience using and/or administering InMagic Genie a plus.
• Experience with InterLibrary Loan procedures a plus.
• Knowledge of and interest in current Library trends.
• Familiarity with online databases such as Dialog, Lexis-Nexis, Westlaw, EbscoHost, and IEEE.
• Highly proficient with MS Office.
• Must possess initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel.
• Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
