Create configure Storage unit devices. Debugging backup failure codes and tape devices issues. Netbackup fundamentals are essential. Familiarity with Netbackup DB agents (RMAN, INFORMIX On-BAR, SQL, BCV, Teradata) 3 -5 yrs experience working with media of-site management and NB Vault 5 yrs experience with TCP/IP protocol 5 yrs experience in Unix 5 yrs with scripting in PERL or any shell 2 - 5 yrs experience with Windows System Administration. 1 - 2 yrs experience with Command Central Reporting or VBR 1 - 2 yrs experience with Netbackup Puredisk 1 - 2 yrs experience with Esx or VX Ranger 2 -3 years with Network Legato / Arcserv and its fundamentals Excellent Communication Skills Detailed oriented Excellent Customer Service Skills. Avamar is a de-duping, tapeless backup solution that utilizes several servers within a grid to perform backups. The job requires an in depth knowledge of Avamar including: Building an Avamar grid from scratch. Troubleshooting node failures including hardware and OS specific errors. Knowledge of the maintenance crons (hfscheck, checkpoint and garbage collection) and troubleshooting of these processes. Client deployment and registration for various platforms including database agent options such as RMAN, SQL, Exchange, Sybase, etc). Querying of the Avamar database (Postgres SQL) to build custom report scripts. Understanding of the Avamar MCCLI commands. Web based restores. Replication of entire Avamar grid to another, as well as replicating individual clients. Understanding of capacity management including back end storage consumption and licensing. Root Cause Analysis. Job responsibilities include: Day to day administration of the Avamar grid(s) including adding/removing clients to/from backup schedules, setting up policies and defining schedules to best meet the business requirements. Quick resolution to backup failures. Performing analysis on Avamar health and provide prompt feedback to customer and management. Provide root cause analysis for all issues including backup failures as well as Avamar grid problems. Writing scripts to provide management with detailed reports. Assisting customer as needed. As this is a 24x7 environment, there will be pager duty. Skills required: LINUX or UNIX experience. Shell scripting (korn, perl, bourne). Minimal SQL. Networking knowledge (DNS, routing, etc).
