Research the industry for new processes or methods to incorporate into new designs and product modifications. Confer with marketing, manufacturing, quality and administrative personnel to clarify or resolve problems and to develop new designs. Design chassis with metals, finishes and polymers within EMI compliance Prepare and direct preparation of product or system layouts and detailed drawings. Confer with other engineering personnel and prepare design modifications as required. Evaluate engineering test results for possible application to developments of systems or other uses. Present design concepts to customers. Requirements: Masters or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering required. Minimum of 7 years experience working with mechanical design and ruggedized electro-mechanical packaging for commercial or military products required. Experienced with Pro-Engineer suite of CAD tools required. Thermal, stress or optimization analysis required, FEM analysis with ALGOR experience a plus. Experienced designing chassis with metals, finishes and polymers within EMI compliance required. Experienced with Geometric Tolerancing IAW ASME Y14.5m-1994 required. Experienced with shock and vibration compliance with Mil-Std-810 and Mil-Std-901 required. Experienced with commercial low cost packaging concepts a plus Industrial or ergonomically compliant packaging concepts a plus.
