Oversee and supervise system and equipment validation, commissioning and startup. Manage various crafts (Union &/or Non-union) including Piping, Plumbing, HVAC. Etc. Review change order packages, mechanical plans, P&IDs and equipment drawings. Resolve mechanical system field issues, manage engineering errors and work closely with field personnel to implement specification and drawing revisions. Provides discipline updates and attends regular progress and project meetings. Maintain liaison with engineering, estimating, and planning to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule. Generates or answers RFIs as necessary to clarify plans and details. Assesses need for, prepares RFPs, negotiates with and manages subcontractors. Assesses requests for changes of scope that may occur as a job progresses. Physically walks the sites regularly each day making an earnest effort to correlate superintendents reports with physical progress on sites. Reviews estimates adding operational, maintenance and construction circumstances insights. Plans mechanical work by determining specifications; selecting contractors; establishing installation schedules; planning shut-downs and installations; integrating requirements with other discipline designs; verifying code requirements; updating cost estimates. Field verification and acceptance of construction execution to insure compliance with plans and specifications. Prepare written reports of construction activity. Coordinate inspection to verify conformance of the work to the contract documents and final completion of the work. Prepares bid packages, obtain bid proposals, prepares subcontract budgets for approval and manages the subcontract work.Qualified candidates possess a solid track record of success and knowledge of industrial mechanical systems and construction methods, codes, standards, principles practices and safety, especially the general principles of mechanical systems, piping, plumbing HVAC engineering and construction, ability to determine engineering and construction problems in the early stages, ability to inspect mechanical systems and equipment in the process of being constructed to determine adherence to codes, standards, specifications, ordinances and safety, ability to analyze and interpret engineering documents and drawings, ability to analyze the design, and ability to effectively meet and deal with the public, contractors, and officials.Minimum five years experience in industrial mechanical systems supervision. Industrial experience should include construction management, contract management and specifications writing.Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelors degree in engineering or construction management is preferred or ten or more years experience in mechanical construction in a supervisory or managerial capacity.Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry 60-100 pounds, ability to perform manual labor utilizing tools in the construction trade, ability to bend, squat, stoop, climb frequently and walk over uneven ground, ability to communicate effectively using speaking, hearing, writing, and vision skills.
