Junior Research Analyst - Travel Infrastructure Logistics

The Travel Infrastructure Logistics (TIL) Practice covers all transportation and travel sub-industries:  airlines & airports, post & parcel, trucking, third-party logistics (3PL), rail, travel & hotels, shipping & ports, and urban transit.  Our global TIL research team includes professionals in Amsterdam, Düsseldorf, Brussels, Beijing, Chicago and Atlanta.

 

We are currently seeking a Junior Research Analyst to be a part of the Research & Information (“R&I”) team for the TIL Practice in the spring of 2008 and to be located in either Atlanta or Chicago.

 

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and will possess the following:

 

·  Strong problem-solving skills

·  Excellent written and oral communication skills

·  Outstanding academic records including at least a Bachelor’s degree

·  Prior full-time work experience is not required

·  Prior TIL Industry experience, gained either through work experience or study is an advantage, though not requirement, as it is essential that candidates have demonstrated interest in our focus industries.

 

Main responsibilities include:

 

·  Serving as the first point of contact to McKinsey consultants for TIL industry knowledge; introducing consultants to industry structure, players, dynamics, and issues

·  Researching and analyzing the TIL industries, companies, products, and issues for application in client problem-solving

·  Engaging consulting teams in discussions on client or industry issues and crafting creative research solutions to prove or disprove hypotheses

·  Preparing targeted end-products to communicate research findings to consulting teams

·  Expanding McKinsey’s TIL knowledge base by developing and maintaining codified knowledge
