Infrastructure Development - Senior Research Analyst, Construction/Real Estate Industry
McKinsey & Company is looking for Senior Research Analyst to join the construction industry research team. The position will be based at the North American Knowledge Center (NAKC), located in Waltham, MA (20 minutes west of Boston). The Construction/ Real Estate Research Team conducts industry research covering topics across the value chain: production and distribution of building products, finance, design, and development of infrastructure, residential, and nonresidential. The Infrastructure Development Senior Research Analyst will focus on topics from the field of infrastructure financing, including public private partnerships (PPP); infrastructure construction and development, and project management.
Description of position
The primary job responsibilities for Infrastructure Development Senior Research Analyst are to support the research needs of consulting teams, and to contribute to the development of McKinsey’s internal construction industry knowledge.
· Consulting team support. As a Senior Research Analyst, you will thought partner with the consultant team members and offer industry insights, identify key issues and trends, analyze key players and quantitatively define or validate business opportunities. By leveraging industry resources and McKinsey’s internal experts, you will collect, summarize and synthesize the relevant facts and deliver written summaries, charts, frameworks and fact packs to consultants.
· Knowledge development. You will be expected to bring and develop further expertise in the area of infrastructure financing and development, depending on the needs of the client serving team. You will advance industry perspectives and author knowledge reports addressing emerging industry opportunities and challenges. As a senior analyst you will also coach and mentor junior colleagues and share your knowledge with internal and external consulting and research teams.
Requirements
We seek candidates who are passionate about and have experience in infrastructure development and business research. Specifically we are looking for candidates that meet the following criteria:
· Deep understanding of the infrastructure financing and development area (structure of the industry, stakeholders, business conduct, economic drivers, regulatory and legal environment) obtained by on-site experience, or in a secondary research environment analyzing industry-based investment opportunities
· Passion for conducting analytical research work in a dynamic environment, where you can expect to address diverse topics within, and development greater expertise across the construction value chain in addition to infrastructure financing and development.
· Intellectual curiosity along with excellent problem solving and analytical skills
· Strong people skills, team-oriented and professional attitude
· Ability to interact effectively at all levels of a large organization
Background
· Graduate degree in relevant disciplines (Civil Engineering, Finance, Economics) with at least three years of relevant research experience within the infrastructure financing and development industry.
· Knowledge of primary and secondary business research methodologies
· Ability to analyze and synthesize research results and draw conclusions
