Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: -- Inspects materials, grades, and other work for compliance with standard and special specifications, details, plans, and standard construction practices. -- Observes work in progress to ensure that procedures are followed and materials used conform to specifications. -- Read construction plans and specifications. -- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications for construction control purposes. -- Make decisions in accordance with construction plans and specifications and City policy and procedures. -- Observe or monitor work/procedures to determine compliance with prescribed specifications or safety standards. -- Concrete Equipment Foundations (Vessels, Drums Tanks), inspection of rebar, formwork, anchor bolts, embedded plates, concrete pouring. -- Grouting for equipment and Steel Structure columns ( Equipment, Vessels, Tanks, Steel Structure). -- Perform field plan review and requires construction corrections to be made when deficiencies are discovered; -- Assist builders and owners in determining methods to achieve code conformance. -- Issue notices of violation where unsafe or illegal conditions exist, and conducts follow-up inspections to ensure corrections are made. -- Investigate alleged violations of the Construction Code and related ordinances. -- Detect possible defects and faults in construction and recommend or stipulate appropriate remedial measures. -- Objectively interpret and consistently apply code requirements and related standards in accordance with department policies. -- Knowledge of Pipe Off Loading industry practices.
