FUNCTIONThe benefits coordinator provides support to the associate director of benefits and compensation and is responsible for benefit enrollments, billing, cost accounting, continuation of benefits applications, medical leave tracking, responding to employee issues, and HRIS and file maintenance.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES1. Coordinate and process employee benefits enrollments with the divisions and insurance companies.2. Generate monthly benefits billings, distribution reports and biweekly payroll reports from the HRIS system.3. Reconcile monthly benefit cost allocations to the monthly premiums paid.4. Prepare continuation of benefits notifications for separated and other eligible employees.5. Track employee medical leaves and provide support to the division HR offices.6. Serve as a backup on all HR systems including data entry and report generation.7. Maintain and distribute benefits supplies to the division HR departments.8. Perform other related duties as requested.EFFECT ON END RESULTS1. Employees are enrolled accurately and on time and complete benefits files are maintained.2. Monthly bills are paid promptly and the finance department is provided with an accurate accounting of costs.3. Monthly benefit expenses match the allocation of expenses to the divisions.4. Eligible employees receive benefits continuation notices within federal guidelines.5. Employee leave information is tracked and HR offices receive guidance in managing their employees' leaves.6. The HRIS system is maintained accurately.7. Division HR department benefits liaisons have sufficient supplies for their divisions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSThe position requires 60 college credits plus two years experience in a related field or a satisfactory combination of education and experience. Light accounting or bookkeeping experience is required. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, possess strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and adhere to deadlines. The ability to maintain confidentiality is essential. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel required. The position pays 40K.
