Identify key system interactions and interfaces. - Maintain a complete understanding of total system architecture, technology, and interaction. - Develop overall application architecture, development standards, and application infrastructure that result in a reliable, efficient, robust application landscape. - Evaluate, prototype, and demonstrate new development technology, tools, or approaches - Provide guidance and assistance to IT team on solution architecture, approach, testing, and trouble shooting new development and applications. - Develop diagrams, graphs, and analysis to assist with overall application understanding and use - Evaluate architecture and technical suitability of vended products and applications. - Assist with development of recommendations, business case, and estimates for new functionality and changes. - Work with IT team members to ensure consistency and correctness of estimates and development. - Work with Metro infrastructure, database, and quality assurance teams to ensure proper installation, functioning, and interfacing of applications. - Assist with, as appropriate, orientation and training of application end users/customers. - Train and mentor other IT team members as appropriate to help them grow in their capabilities. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Document and estimate specific requests for new capabilites. Help to assess the value to the organization. Ability to listen and communicate effectively with all levels Ability to communicate complex technical ideas and plans effectively to non-technical personnel. - Ability to document requirements, recommendations, estimates, and system information in a clear and concise manner. - Ability and experience with estimating work and schedules. - Experience with a wide variety of development technologies, tools, system architectures and approaches for packaged and custom software. - Ability to investigate and resolve application and systemic problems in a complex environment. - Ability and interest in staying current on industry trends in technology and architecture. - Understanding of information technology development methodologies, standards, and best practices. - Experience working in a team environment and ability to work independently and set priorities. - Ability to train and mentor other IT team members. - Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, Microsoft Technologies (.NET, VB, Access), Client Server, Web services, web development technologies, interface technologies, and data movement/analysis tools. - Experience with the Transit industry or applications (Trapeze, Hastus, Tripfinder) a plus. Education Experience Degree: B.A./B.S. or equivalent experience required.
