Heavy Duty Class 8 Truck Dealership in Birmingham Alabama is seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a Service Writer in our Service Department.

 







JOB DESCRIPTION

 

SERVICE WRITER

 

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

 

 

This position serves as the Service Writer for the Service Department. In this position you would print all work requests, check all charges for accuracy and enter information into a computer system.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

 

1.               Greets on-site customers and obtains information on work requested.

2.               Receives and distributes work requests for Service Department.

3.               Enters pertinent data into a computer system.

4.               Processes and invoices work orders as they are completed.

5.               Answers incoming telephone calls, responding courteously and promptly to customer inquiries and requests.

6.               Communicates with customers regarding the status and cost of jobs, obtaining PO’s and follow up on customer satisfaction.

7.               Insures accuracy and completeness of notes generated by technicians.

 

 

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

 

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

The individual must possess these skills and abilities.

 

1.               Ability to read and comprehend written information.

2.               Ability to understand and follow specific oral instructions.

3.               Ability to maintain confidential information.

4.               Ability to interact and communicate effectively with customers.

5.               Must have a working knowledge of computer data entry.

6.               Must possess ability to supervise employees when needed.

 

 

EDUCATION

 

Graduation from high school or equivalent required.

 

 

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

 

Two years experience in auto and/or truck repairs would be beneficial.

Experience as a General Motors or Class 8 Service Writer preferred.

Alabama Drivers License required.

Computer skills required.

Must be able to provide references.

 

 

SALARY

 

Salary depends upon experience. A comprehensive benefit package is offered to all full-time employees. This is full-time exempt position. The hours are 9:00am to 6:30pm daily with alternating Saturdays from 8:00am to 12:00pm .
