The company provides customers access to 5 billion searchable documents from more than 35,000 legal, news and business sources.Responsibilities This position exists to provide subject matter expertise on the domain and institutional knowledge for the maintenance, support and development of LexisNexis systems, applications and tools. This role specifically works in collaboration with the vendor engineering teams and the LexisNexis community to provide enterprise and system level consulting on software design and development efforts. This role identifies ways technology solutions can be applied to support business strategies and improve business processes. Individuals in this role partner with the business units and requirements managers to communicate and clarify business needs to the vendor resources, contribute to development of long-range systems plans and architecture, assist in requirements elaboration, and ensure products and services are aligned and implemented to meet business needs. It is also expected that the Systems Consultant may be required to participate minimally in hands on development work, specifically when it comes to assisting with high severity incident reports or time-critical project deadlines. Incumbents will conduct business process analysis, needs assessments, and preliminary cost-benefit analysis. They also review estimates and designs to ensure compliance with architectural standards.Qualifications 1. 7+ years experience in all phases of system and/or product development 2. Proven ability to work independently and lead teams consisting of both employees and vendor resources in multiple locations and time zones 3. Proven ability to work with, and sometimes lead, teams in multiple locations and time zones 4. Proven ability to adapt to new roles and responsibilities 5. Ability to provide both detail information and also summarize to a management level 6. Tenacity; ability to work through problems and reach a solution 7. Knowledge of large complex systems 8. Ability to work in ambiguous situations 9. Ability to teach, mentor, and supervise, as well as communicate with others interpersonally, orally and in writing 10. Proven ability to effectively influence peers and leaders 11. Requires a Bachelors degree in Business, Computer Science of a related major or equivalent experience 12. Ability to work and collaborate effectively with offshore-based vendors 13. Ability and willingness to travel within the US and abroad.1. Provides expertise within the scope of Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) technologies. Specifically; SOA, ETL, BPM, Workflow, MDM, eCommerce, and XML/SOAP. Familiarity with the following vendor products desirable; Tibco BusinessWorks, IBM DataStage/QualityStage, Corticon Business Rules Management System, Siperian Master Data Management Hub. 2. Acts as the primary contact between the vendor engineering teams and LexisNexis, answers questions from vendor(s) 3. Collaborates with vendor engineering teams to prepare sizings, develop schedules, and implement requirements to meet deadlines 4. Liaison with the business units and vendor for elaborating requirements 5. Makes technical decisions for the team where required 6. Coordinate multi-system solutions to clarify interdependencies so that such systems appear seamless to vendor 7. Consults with cross-functional project teams to ensure integrity of existing fabrication processes and participates in implementation of new technologies 8. Actively builds, maintains, and utilizes an extensive network across the company 9. Always looks for new ways to meet or exceed customer expectations consistent with the business strategy 10. Seeks diverse ideas and perspectives from a variety of sources to create better solutions, products, and services 11. Drives execution by aligning communication, people, processes, and systems to ensure effective implementation and delivery of required results 12. Manage system and user acceptance testing cycles to ensure accurate and quality business solutions. 13. Earn the respect of the business units you represent and of the vendors you manage 14. Consults with stakeholders to find alternative workarounds during system outages 15. Escalates and prioritizes incidents pertaining to critical systems issues 16. Develop complete understanding of vendor?s infrastructure and business practices 17. Assists with the development of technical standards, and performs reviews to ensure enterprise and architectural standards and processes are followed. 18. Escalates broader scale decisions to appropriate managers or points-of-contact. 19. Raises technical implications for changes in business process and/or requirements. 20. Review impact analysis, design and test plans prepared by the vendor engineering teams. 21. Assists with research for hardware and software purchasing. 22. Represents team in technical discussions with other teams or departments. 23. Monitors industry trends, best practices. 24.
