SAP Administrator

Howrey LLP, recently acknowledged as an "A" list firm in The American Lawyer's list of "the best law firms in the land," has an exciting SAP Basis Specialist position in its Falls Church, VA office. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, upgrading, maintaining and supporting SAP and associated technologies.

Responsibilities: Implement and support SAP development and production systems.  SAP Basis administration and technical core tasks including SAP software installation, upgrade, applying Support Packages, patches, and fixes, installation of add-on software components, SAP profile parameter changes, workload analysis, system error analysis and establishing standard Basis background jobs and system health checks and monitoring.  Apply database administration knowledge to define efficient and optimal database layout, implement file structures and disk layouts, and analyze and improve database performance.  Define and document technical system requirements and systems management procedures.  Creates troubleshooting documents for support and maintenance of SAP solutions.  Involved with problem escalation and resolution, working with SAP and other software/hardware vendors to resolve problems. Coordinates all SAP infrastructure change management efforts utilizing change management tools and processes  Assess impact of new SAP releases to current system landscape environments, design solution and assist production support teams in deploying the solution.  Analyze system performance, system health checks and implement tuning improvements.  Participate in multi-landscape design solutions, architecture recommendations, and strategies for continuous improvement.  Maintains multi-landscape environments through environment copies, system refreshes, transport management.  Demonstrates Sun hardware and Solaris operating system knowledge; responsible for optimal disk layout, file system structures, OS tuning/performance improvements, and troubleshooting.  Provides technical consulting to application development, functional, global rollout, integration and change release management teams.  Investigates and participates in new technologies and solution from SAP and associated software vendors.  Establish and maintain security policies related to an SAP implementation.  Provide user administration of SAP by configuring roles, defining groups, and establishing group membership.  Assist in determining the proper privileges to be allocated per role/group, and configure SAP accordingly.  Control life cycle of user access to SAP by adding and removing users, establishing user profiles, and controlling group membership of users.  Provide resource administration for the SAP implementation (e.g., Printers, etc.). Requirements:

Qualifications: B.S or M.S Degree in business, information systems, or related field.  Five to seven years’ IT industry experience or equivalent; three to five years SAP Basis support experience or equivalent. Leading role in one or two large-scale SAP implementations achieving production status. Certification in SAP Basis preferred.  Strong understanding of SAP R/3 and associated technologies; working knowledge of ECC 5.0. Substantial experience in administration, configuration, and performance tuning of Oracle databases.  Substantial experience with Unix operating system; preferably Sun Solaris.  Manages change and seeks to identify and adopt better ways of doing things.  Thorough understanding of security administration for SAP. Excellent organization and planning skills.  Strong oral and written communication skills  Excellent inter-personal and team skills.  Knowledge and experience in implementation life cycle phases of an SAP implementation.
