COME AND JOIN THE DOWNEY FAMILY AS OUR PARALEGAL HANDLING SUBPOENAS AND BANKRUPTCIES. YOU CAN COME IN AS A CONSULTANT OR AS A FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE. 

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:

 

Accept service of third party subpoenas directed to Downey Savings relating to discovery and litigation involving loan or retail banking customers.  Coordinate distribution and obtains documents responsive to subpoenas served.  Track, monitor and collect payments and billings for subpoena services provided by Downey.

 

Track Downey litigation matters forwarded to insurance company for defense.  Coordinate insurance reimbursements for branch accident claims. Manage small claims matters with assistance of counsel.  Provide administrative and legal support to in-house counsel, including drafting correspondence and memoranda.  Draft collection complaints and correspondence.  General secretarial (answer telephones, distribute mail, reception assistance, etc.) 

 

Perform word processing of real estate contracts and agreements, modifications and other loan documents as directed by in-house counsel. Coordinate service and respond to discovery requests.

 

Coordinate service and filing of creditors’ claims.  Respond to branch inquiries. 



Open new Bankruptcy files, obtain Petition and Schedules, loan documents, foreclosure documents, Miser documents, and tax documents.

 

Draft and finalize proofs of claim, motions for relief from automatic stay, and other documents as requested by attorney and file and serve same.

 

Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys, including legal research, drafting pleadings, title claim work, collection issues, correspondence, memos, revising documents, maintaining calendar, and performing other duties as assigned.
