Legal Word Processor - pt evenings

Are you seeking an evening position?  Do you have solid computer skills and experience with styling (formatting) documents?  Do you exhibit a keen sense of attention to detail and proofreading? 

Bodman LLP has an opportunity for an evening word processor.  This position performs a variety of word processing functions to produce documents for attorneys according to established policies and procedures. The successful candidate observes confidentiality of client matters and converts correspondence and reports from handwritten copy, drafts, machine records and disk to final typed-quality documents.  Creates, revises and prints documents utilizing computer system software, macros, forms file or OCR.  Utilizes legal formats and terminology when setting up documents.  Transcribes and types dictation, composes letters, memos, and various other correspondence for attorneys and staff and proofreads all work completed before returning to attorney or staff person. Retrieves documents that have been filed off the system.  Works one-on-one with attorneys on projects that need special or specific instruction.  Converts and formats documents from other computers. 

Requirements are high school diploma or equivalent; previous experience of 1-3 years in a legal or professional environment.  Ability to type routine forms, reports, correspondence and the like from rough draft or  transcription at a level of 65 wpm or better. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, including styling; knowledge of Microsoft Outlook; knowledge of legal terms preferred.  Must be self motivated, with the ability to work quickly, efficiently and confidently without close supervision. Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints. Ability to proofread typed material for grammatical, typographical or spelling errors.  Ability to operate standard office equipment such as a personal computer, photocopiers, fax machines, typewriter, and dictation transcription equipment.  Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff to provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.

The hours for the position are Monday – Friday, 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and additionally after training period, Saturdays 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Available to work additional hours during two week training period.  To be considered for the position, e-mail resume and salary requirements to jobopportunities@bodmanllp.com.
