Director of Client Accounting

 

 

SUMMARY

Under general direction, the Director of Client/Debtor Accounting plans, directs, and coordinates activities of the Client/Debtor Accounting Department; including accounts receivable, client billing distribution, and payment processing, by performing personally or through subordinate supervisors.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

 Participates in long-range planning for the Accounting department.

 Develops and implements department policies and procedures.

 Determines necessary staffing and recommends staffing levels.

 Coordinates activities for all Accounting department functions.

 Analyzes internal processes and plans and develops ways to improve department efficiency.

 Prepares reports required by senior management.

 Directs the maintenance ofsubsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, and debtor payment processing.

 Provides leadership and guidance to staff in fulfilling their responsibilities.

 Interviews candidates for positions and recommends hiring.

 Ensures employees receive appropriate training, equipment and supplies to perform effectively.

 Assigns and monitors the work of  staff.

 Evaluates employee performance, administers discipline, and maintains proper records.

 Ensures effective communication of information to all accounting department employees.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises employees in the client focused Accounting department units; may supervise subordinate managers/supervisors.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

 

 

Desired Experience and Skills:

Bachelor Degree Required

CPA preferred

Minimum seven years related experience

Supervisory experience
