Corporate Paralegal - Opportunity to go In House!

 The Mergis Group, a division of Spherion is in search of a Corporate Paralegal for an in house organization! The Mergis Group specializes in matching the skill sets of talented legal professionals to the needs of law firm and legal departments.  Our client is a financial services company providing a broad range of services. Location is Downtown DC and is metro accessible.  As a valued in-house resource, the position has extensive internal and external client interactions, requiring excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have Paralegal experience within the corporate arena. Emphasis on compliance is needed.     Previous experience in budget planning is strongly desired and a keen attention to detail is a must. Position also requires proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Westlaw. .The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and self directed professional with superior research skills and at least 3-5 years of legal experience, principally focused in the area of corporate compliance. The responsibilities of the position are as follows:   Receives requests for, drafts for review, and sends corporate actions without meetings. Maintains current and accurate corporate records. Provides administrative assistance for meetings including requesting information, drafting agendas, preparing materials and drafting meeting minutes. Responds to requests for corporate information. Initiates requests for information; drafts, prepares and sends Holding Company Registration Statement to insurance departments. Responsible for sending and gathering Conflict of Interest Questionnaire to all companies. Responsible for corporate filings and insurane department filings. Receives, researches, reviews and responds to requests for corporate/PAC contributions. Receives and manages trademark requests; sends to outside counsel.
