Communications Specialist

Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP is a premier general practice law firm with 14 offices located throughout the country.  The firm is currently recruiting for a Communications Specialist for the Washington, DC office. 

 

The Communications Specialist is responsible for copywriting and creative development of a variety of print and electronic materials, including brochures, newsletters, announcements and Web content.  This individual will be called upon to handle various aspects of wide-ranging editing and publishing projects, including reviewing the firm’s Internet content, updating and maintaining attorney bios, and ensuring that formatting, editorial and graphic standards are met. 

 

The ideal candidate is an outstanding writer and strategic thinker with an innate understanding of business communications and an excellent grasp of copyediting fundamentals.  This individual must communicate clear and consistent messages that promote the firm’s expertise, core values and vision in a competitive marketplace.  Attention to detail and an ability to write crisp copy in a fast-paced and demanding environment are a must. This position reports to the Senior Communications Specialist

 

Job-Specific Competencies for the Communications Specialist

 

·  Bachelors degree in English, journalism, or a related field, with three to five years’ work experience required.  Exceptional writing, editing, organizational, project management and problem solving skills necessary.  Proofreading skills and familiarity with AP style are a must.

·  Work with attorneys and marketing liaisons in the development and execution of advertising and marketing efforts focused on individual practices.

·  Develop, manage and maintain a variety of internal and external communications, including attorney bios, advertising program books, partner announcements, brochures, newsletters, presentations and sections of the firm’s Web site at www.sonnenschein.com.

·  Collaborate with subject matter experts to edit materials for correctness in style, grammar and content, ensuring copy is formatted properly and meets Sonnenschein’s standards.  Ability to produce creative, high-quality materials for a sophisticated and demanding audience is a must.

·  Manage a variety of highly visible, time-sensitive and complex communications initiatives independently and in a team environment.  Ability to establish positive relationships with internal and external clients, as well as strong relationship-building skills.

·  Ability to juggle projects requiring differing skill sets, while maintaining high standards on a tight schedule.  The successful candidate has strong organizational skills to manage workflow and meet deadlines.

·  Experience with Microsoft Office suite required.
