Business Development Specialist
A top tier global law firm located in NYC is in need of a Business Development Specialist. The BD Specialist will support and execute the business development and marketing activities of the Americas practices. REPORTING LINE The position reports to a BD Manager and to the Director of Business Development and Marketing of the Americas region. KEY TASKS Winning new business - assisting lawyers with the preparation of capability statements and tailored client proposals; writing and maintaining business development materials such as practice group descriptions and lawyer biographies; identifying potential clients and new areas of business; and conducting competitors and marketplace analysis. Supporting strategic client relationships - supporting client partners and BD Managers in developing and implementing strategic client plans. Developing business plans - supporting the practice area leaders and group members in developing business plans and corresponding marketing plans; producing detailed client and industry research reports to support initiatives. Marketing communications - identifying opportunities to position and raise the profile of the practice and partners; developing relationships with external conference organizers; assisting with the organization of client events/seminars (and staffing events where appropriate); suggesting, producing and distributing client briefings and other knowledge sharing materials; supporting the production of other client communications including newsletters, brochures, announcement cards and advertisements, etc.; developing and maintaining content for website and intranet. Managing information - capturing deal flow information in transaction databases for league table submissions, directory listings, awards and other external and internal communication activities. Supporting cross-practice business development initiatives as identified by the Director of Business Development from time to time. REQUIREMENTS The successful applicant will possess the following: A Bachelor’s degree. 3-5 years business development / marketing experience in financial or professional services firm. Law firm experience preferred. · Superior client service skills demonstrated through: · Commitment to quality 1 Excellent oral and written communications skills 2 Ability to work as part of a team and with lawyers of all levels of seniority 3 Proactive and positive approach 4 Ability to work independently 5 Strong project management and organizational skills 6 Ability to work under pressure and to prioritize competing needs 7 Analytical and research skills 8 Understanding of our clients’ commercial objectives and marketplace Proficiency in PC applications: Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
