Web Producer- Saint Paul, MN- Req #127-08
The primary role of the Web Producer is to manage the daily production of the client’s web sites. This includes making modifications to existing web pages using the CMS and coordinating the efforts of the web development, graphic design and editorial staffs to complete requests. The Web Producer is also responsible for project management of small to mid-sized project requests. This full-time position reports directly to the Director of Site Operations.
Overall duties include managing editorial production, assisting remote site editorial staff, Content & Site Operations Managers and other Web Producers in implementing client website initiatives and special projects. Duties also include troubleshooting and problem-solving site technical issues, cultivating and maintaining a positive relationship, and communicating issues and trends to the Site Operations management team.Essential Functions:Receives production requests, verifies their completeness, collects necessary assets, tasks to the necessary production resources for completion by deadline. Works with content, web development, design, and project management teams to coordinate tasks, resources, deliverables and timelines. Determines correct path for client requests. Helps customers derive more value from our products: enhancing their experience by making relevant suggestions. Defines solutions and best practices. Makes modifications to existing web pages using the CMS to improve usability, ensure high performance, and continue to leverage industry standards. May code in HTML to update web pages. Project manages small to mid-sized custom project requests. Identifies and manages changes in scope as it impacts overall team schedule. Perform QA proofing and/or user acceptance testing on site changes. Serves as an escalation point for unresolved, overdue bugs and service desk tickets. Escalates technical, content or communication issues as necessary. Attends daily stand up meetings and weekly operation calls, as required. Prepares project status report for weekly operations calls. Acts as first level production tech. point person for Director of Site Operations and Content & Site Operation Managers. Works cooperatively with Campaign Specialists to complete projects that combine sales and editorial elements. Assists with finding sales solutions. Maintains excellent working relationships with client groups, station staff, 3rd party companies and Internet Broadcasting staff. Qualifications & Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities) Required:Excellent ability to write, speak and use images to clearly and persuasively communicate in technical and non-technical subjects with both technical and non-technical audiences. Above-average internet knowledge and/or heavy user. Working knowledge of content management systems, and internet/web technology, including basic knowledge of HTML, with CSS experience helpful. Proficient with Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Strong project management skills with the ability to work in a team environment in situations in which ambiguity and multiple priorities are likely. Must be able to prioritize and manage simultaneous assignments within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Excellent organizational, research, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills. Excellent collaborative skills and ability to navigate a large organization to get things done. Ability to build and maintain client relationships and discern their general business goals. Experience working with media (TV, radio, newspaper, etc) or in a news environment is desirable. Desirable but not required skills: Microsoft Project, MS Visio, Photoshop, previous publishing experience with Atlassian’s Confluence, project management experience with Agile. Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; 1-2 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional experience in project coordination, general web development, communications and familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of web production would be a plus.
