This team is responsible for software and web design for an array of innovative and market changing music products including the Rhapsody Media Player, Rhapsody.com, Rhapsody on TiVo, Rhapsody MP3 Store, and a number of high profile sub properties within the music vertical. The Senior Visual Designer will be an integral hands-on contributor, helping the visual design team meet the many challenges and opportunities presented by the digital music market with innovation and precision.The Senior Visual Designer is responsible for taking assigned creative projects from concept to completion. This includes all phases of the design process, including concept development, production, look and feel, graphic and interface design. You will work closely with the Art Director and/or Creative Director to help establish and maintain the visual integrity and consistency of all creative efforts. You will translate marketing and business objectives into solid design solutions. SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITES: * Innovate design, using experience and research * Evolve the creative approach as needed while enforcing creative, technical and brand standards universally * Provide multiple innovative design approaches where possible to encapsulate the user experience.* Contribute to the evolution and strategy of design policies and practices as applied to the implementation of standards, color, typography and visual expressions of the brand * Further the design toward a cohesive, unified vision through hands-on design, having a critical eye towards developing a consistent product for the project and the Rhapsody brand as a whole* Work in lock step with the User Experience team and the rest of the Creative Services team to create end to end experiences * Communicate well with others in Product Management, Marketing, Dev/QA, Editorial * Provide creative leadership to designers and junior designers * Manage creative projects effectively and efficiently while maintaining priorities, deadlines and deliverables as set by the Creative Director * Act as a recognized and active resource on design issues MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: * The successful candidate will have solid experience in consumer software and consumer facing web sites. * Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Arts or a design related field is required with a minimum of 5 years of related work experience. * Marketing, advertising, interactive, interface, print, user-centered design experience is required. * Special attention will be paid to portfolios exhibiting skill in typography, color, layout/composition, and imagery. * The ideal candidate must possess strong artistic design sensibilities and systems. * Expert knowledge of delivery for desktop software and the Web using optimization techniques, file formatting and format translation. * Project management and scoping skills a plus. * Multiple projects, priorities and deadlines are the norm and the candidate must seek a fast paced and dynamic environment, however quality in delivery is still most important.The candidate must possess expert level knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, proficiency in Macromedia design related tools. Flash experience a very big plus. Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, DHTML, JavaScript and AJAX required, as it relates to creative asset delivery.
